Trouble Two : When love and headache collide..

Soon after the second birthday of my daughter -Noelle- I noticed a tremendous change in her temperament and behavior. She was no more the same obedient baby. She became aggressive, showed her likes and dislikes, would throw tantrums and keep me on my toes to feed her, to bath her and to dress her up.

So I realized that it is going to be a tough exhausting year ahead for me as a mother and dealing with my toddler would not be as smooth as it used to be. Now she is 28 months old, still in the trouble two phase, drives me crazy, crazy, crazy, love!

In the past three weeks, she has decided  that going to bed is not her cup of tea. She used to be so easy to put down for bed (either nap or night time, which is already past the "normal" toddler bedtime), but lately she wants to continue to play or watch TV/movie until the wee hours of the night (read : midnite). Oh well, I guess that's what happens when kids start to grow up and realize that their bed time is not the same as Mama and Papa's bed time. However, I keep reminding her that we are in charge and we know what's best for her.. Yeah, like she understands those abstract thoughts!

She never respond to NO! She will keep doing the thing, until she learn a lesson. Last week, we went to church, and because it's winter, she dressed in long sleeves jumper and leggings. During the mass, she felt bored and start amusing herself, so she start to rolled up the sleeves up to her elbow, and I said "No, don't do that, Noelle. It's cold. We need to keep you warm" while unrolled it, aaaand she rolled it up again.

The scene repeated 3 times, finally when she rolled up the sleeve again, I "help" her with rolling it neatly and a bit higher, on both arms. She looked satisfied, and back to play in her seat, and 5 minutes later she asked me to roll out her sleeves because "It's Kod" (that's how she says cold). I learn that sometimes, I just need to pick the things worth to fight for because she need to learn to understand the love behind the word NO.

In this terrible two's months, I learn that Noelle isn't trying to be defiant or rebellious on purpose. She is just trying to express her growing independence and doesn't have the language skills to easily express her needs. I learn that this lead to hiting and temper tantrums when she doesn't get her way.

Shopping would be a fun/not fun activities because she insist to drag the wheelie shopping basket (with her small feet, it will take ages to do a quick shopping in the morning) and I dont like when she put things that I don't intend to buy because she will fight me when I put those things back in the shelves  and she'll throwing tantrum by crying screaming and stomping her feet until she got distracted.

If she got upset, she'll push anything that near her. The other day, she was standing next to the coffee table, and got upset so she pushed the books and stack of magazines from the table, I just eyeing her when they fell on the floor. I took a deep breath, show no interest in her tantrum, and she (hopefully) will learn that throwing tantrum is not the way to get whatever she want.

The funny thing is, when she got upset and there was nothing near her, she will go find a nearest object, eventho it was 3 meters away from her original spot, sometimes it was in other room. When she find it, she'll dramatically push the object to show me that she's upset. Too funny! I laughed and she got upset even more.

Three weeks ago, we were having a 5-day trip in New South Wales, and I expect her to have a bit of unpleasant moments during the flight, such as kicking the front seat when I put on her seatbelt, repeatedly unbuckle the seatbelt, taking all the armrest (she can be persistent), "reading" the inflight magazine loudly and keep clicking the button to call the stewardess, just the way she want it.. The first time it happens, I apologize to the crew and asked to be ignored if the lights ON again :) Goodiebag from Qantas, and inflight entertainment only kept her entertained when she want to, but when she got bored, she'll amuse herself with things that make me want to pull my hair! At this point, I was wondering how nice it would be to have a private jet *wink wink*

Other toddler behaviors she has come up are really kind of icky. For example, she gets a mouthful of spit, smacking her lips in the shape of letter O and produces a big bubble, saliva bubble, and it stays as long as she wants. It’s so gross and awesome too at the same time. I tried but never succeed, and she caught me doing that. She thinks it’s hilarious, and now she always showing off her "talent".. Unfortunately, that behavior will also probably stick around for a while because I couldn't help myself saying "Wow" when I see the big bubble... Blast that "positive reinforcement", especially after I encouraged her to show her father the art of saliva bubble making.

Another icky behavior : She drinks her bathwater. *Shudder!* Thankfully, she showered first, shampoo and soap, brushing her feet, rinse all over until squeaky clean, and then I let her soak in her giant bucket while I shower. I keep her entertained with colourful sticky letters on the wall but still, I know she drinks her bathwater.. I just hope that she didn't pee in her bucket that is. I beg, yell, threaten and physically make her stop doing that, but she's going to do it which I know, until she grown out of it. She looks at me with big smile, dip her face in to the water for 1 second and got mouthful of water then gargle, and if I am lucky, she'll spit it out, or she just drink it and says "Mmmm yummy" (she said it with raised eyebrows and nodding head)... I shake my head and say " Please stop that, if you want to drink, I'll get your bottle, Noelle". She just laughs and dip her head again to get more water. Demonic!

I’m learning that toddlers have a way of defying the “norm” and coming up with wacky ways to keep life interesting. Some of her strange behaviors: she loves the feel of cold things, so she just open the fridge, take a bottle of juice, or a grape, or a brocolli, or a carrot, or an egg (she's exactly one meter tall and can reach the egg shelf) and will put the cold thing on her cheek and say "Kod" over and over again.

She is also fascinated by belly buttons. There's a commercial ad on TV, it's a woman wearing jegging (jeans+legging) and teeny tiny white shirt, showing her bellybutton. Everytime she sees the ads, she will automatically pull her shirt, touching her bellybutton, and then asked to see my bellybutton and then her father's. Thankfully, it never happen when there were other people in the house, otherwise we're having belly button party :D

She love to sniffs food, feeling it hot or cold first, take a teeny tiny bit before decide to eat it or leave it. And I love the fact that she loves to eat veggies, like brocoli and carrots and peas so I dont have to raise my voice to make her eat her greens :) She loves to humming (mostly made up songs), and talking to her toys, sometimes it is peaceful and shoothing knowing I live with other person in the house during the day.

She loves to dance and enjoying nowadays artist like Kathy Perry, Rihana, Lady Gaga, and she loves Glee! She hums the Glee tune everytime she look at "Glee" word on magazine, TV, CDs and then make "the Loser" gesture and  said "Glee!"

This cheeky girl also loves to tease me. She likes to pick her nose, and say "Eww" to the 'treasure' she find.. And when I asked her to hand me the treasure on her finger, she will draw the finger to her mouth and say "Aum" *with naughty look in her eyes* as if she was going to eat it. My reaction? Of course I panic and disgust at the same time and tried to stop her, but she only smile and got that twinkle in her eyes! Aaarrrggghhh! Is it only my child or any of you know other child like this?

My daughter's terrible two's can exhaust me in mere moments, but I wouldn't trade these days for anything *cough*. She can drive me crazy and when I think I can't stand another annoying toddler thing, she does something cute that melts my heart!

The other day, Noelle was in her highchair having brekkie, I was sitting close by to supervise, distract, fetch more food, whatever she need. I was exhausted from a long night (sometimes my eye and my brain refuse to fall asleep until 4am, so I just lie down awake, in the dark). I had my head resting on my hand and my eyes closed. She reached over and handed me her most precious possession —her blanky bunny, formerly named Pinky Rabbit- and said, “Mama, Mami” (she now can say Bunny actually, but refused to call her blankie with Bunny and insist it's Mami).. I could have melted and got teary eyed, how can this angel/monster child show me such a love, comforting me with thing that she know always can comforting her?

One of her most endearing behaviors is when she bow, pick up any toy, tell it "Hi -insert name of toy- " and kiss it. This is super cute with her stuffed animals, doll babies, but it definitely makes me laugh when she does it to her ball or a toy train or legos. After her attention span wanes, she'll drop the toy but ask it if it's okay. The scene was something like this: "Hi Chabi ( for Charlie Bear)! *pick up the toy* "Mwach" *kiss, drop the bear* "Uh-oh" *looking at me, then pick up the bear again* "Chabi, are you okay?".. Superb, one of the thing I pulled ot of my mind everytime I want to smile for my self.

Sometimes when I wash the dishes or cooking, she just randomly comes up to me, give my leg a hug, then running again to play by herself. Other times, I was reading and out of nowhere she grabbed my hand until I was standing up and push me on the bum, it means she wants us to be a train! Chugga chugga chug chug.. We travelled around the house as a train! She will laugh and squeal gleefully..

At 2 and a half year, she still not speaking properly, I mean, in one or two word only, not in a whole sentence, except reciting whatever she hear from her fave movie or ad. When she hungry, she'll come to me and say "Mama, eat?".. or "Mik?" for milk, "Shouwe" for shower and etc.. But when she tried to speak in sentence, only she and God knows what it mean.. I have tried to speak to her, develop her speech skills but the progress still so so.. But I love the fact that she knows her ABCs and 123s, shapes and objects, hundred of vocabs, I just hope that she will talk in sentence soon and able to say her name. I teach her to say Noelle, but she never tried to say it while I know she love to repeat everything I said to her. But she came up with her own name Gojes (from gorgeous) because I always say Gorgeous when she smiles, after I brushed her hair, when she smile and humming and dancing.

She loves to watch me doing the laundry, she'll said "Papa!" when I had my husband's shirt or pants. She knows my clothes, except my shirts, she'll said "Papa" because I rarely wear buttoned shirt and my husband has lots of them. She knows her clothing, and said "Gojes" which means its her.

One of my favourite moments is when she says I love you and make a gesture for it too. I (point to herself), love (make a love shape with both hands), you (point to the person). And when I said back to her, Mama (she point at me) love (make the love shape again), Gojes (point to herself).. There's no confusion in there, she knows I love her..

I love when she comes up to me and planted a kiss. Ooooh I can't and won't resist those puckered lips, because if you asked for a kiss, she won't give you a kiss, she only offer you her cheek! Whatta cheeky girl!

Other heart melting moment, it happened on last Friday night. I was sick of looking at the never tidy living room and Noelle's bedroom. She loves to play in both rooms so there will be always her toys in here and there. I want to enjoy the Friday night watching DVDs or TV programs in a proper clean and tidy living room, so I started to tidy up the living room, took all the stranded toys back to her room, then vacuuming the room while my husband watching TV, in the same room.

Then, I started sorting all the toys, and books, and softies and put them all in their places, and vacuuming Noelle's bedroom. Then my husband asked something, and because I was a bit tired and sick of the routine domestic chores, honestly I don't want to talk at all, so I just said, "I can't hear you". Then he shouted to topped the sound of the vacuum, and I snapped, "I am working".. Well, I was a bit upset because he did not help me, not even offering. *Sorry I dragged you in this story, babe*

And then, when the vaccuum machine stopped and I was retracting the cable, Noelle run to me and hug me, and pat me in the back, and saying something that sounds like "Soowwy".." That's her word for sorry, and if it was right, I don't know what she is sorry for, is it sorry for messing up her bedroom, or sorry for not helping me? Whatever it is, suddenly I just feel warm with love and sad at the same time because I feel so ungrateful.

Then, I praised the Lord for giving me this loving and caring child, which make me learn to be a better person. Yes, life is a neverending school, and sometimes this small person can teach a lot.

To be perfectly honest, what was going on right now is not the kind of toddler behavior I expected coming into motherhood. I never know how utterly charming and adorable some of her behavior can be, until it happened to me.

Oooh toddlers, totally baffling, totally charming... What a roller coaster a toddler can be. I'll just keep hanging on and try to enjoy the ride! Wait up for me, kiddo!

I love you, Noelle..
For better or worse..

happy 22 month, kiddo!!

noelle turn 22 month today.. trouble two is approaching!!! her personality shown day by day, she's an outgoing person, loves to dance, talk to stranger, loves to "help" mama, and she made me smile by just looking at her. i love you, kiddo!

here's what i made for her today, another pillowcase top and puffy pants. she's a tomboy girl (everyone can see that) and this combo is just perfect for a tomboy girl! i love the top because it's so carefree and easy to put on her despite her big head (and easy to make too); and the puffy pants is perfect because she loves to sit on the floor with split style, or squat to admire something in the grass, or messing with the dirt.

red and white polkadot crepe (remnant basket, $0.60), cotton irregular red spots on white fresh from the bolt, cotton red and white stripes for the waistband (remnant basket ($0.30)

spotty wot!!

first bruise..

it happened just like i imagined. she fell when i was in the same room but i can not reach her. i was in the kitchen, she rode her rocking chair, turned it upside down, step on the frame and fell to the coffee table. she cried, loud. it was something that i never heard before.

i ran from kitchen, i hugged her, rocked her gently, and rub her head to her back. she clinged to me tightly. 3 minutes later the crying stopped and i managed to see her face. there was small cut with tiny bit blood on the right cheek and nose bridge. and within minutes, she had dark red circle under her eye. i knew it was bruise and she'll have blackeye for a couple of days.

left picture : photo after she fell (night, about 8PM)
right picture : morning after, she had black and bumpy undereye, cuts on the cheek and nose bridge.

SIGH..

13th month

wow, time travels REAL fast. my baby noelle now turn from baby into toddler, a very young child. well, still infant or baby if you rely on clothing labels and airplane tickets who listed 0-24 months as baby, and 2year above as child. but i saw in my baby formula, NAN HA for toddler 1-3 year.. and factually, i won't call noelle as a baby because she's now so big, growing tall, walking on her own, loves to play and tease me as well as if i am her friend. that's not a baby, that's young person, my little friend. i keep saying that everytime i look at her :)

in the same time last year, noelle was 1 month, a little baby, interested only in feeding, crying, sleeping, bathing, changing, and cuddling.. now that she is 13 month, she thinks she can do -almost- anything, and trying to speak up for herself. not verbally but you'll get it.

other parents said to me, taking care of toddler needs strength and patience because they like have unexhausted source of energy which parents or carer usually can not catch up. yep, that's correct. our routine now changed as she likes it. three times nap during the day become only one nap, a short one. our small apartment now become her wonderland. she loves to go from one room to another, inspecting the surrounding, pick up something from the floor, climbing on the furniture, checking out the drawer, peeking into the front loading washing machine, even locked herself in a room and then crying for help -LOL!-.

i watched her when she play with her toys, or "talking" with herself in the mirror. she has not speak yet, but she babbled to her toys and mirror image as if she's telling stories to them. another time, she cried and i asked her about the matter and she pointing to underneath the TV unit and babbling about something in different tone and facial expression, and then i asked my self, "is she talking to me and trying explain something?" so i bend on my knees and check the pointed place, turns out there are 3 objects of different shapes and colors lying helplessly. she must be threw them and they got stuck because her short arm cant reach them.. OH.. now you're talking, girl.. :)

i like to play with her, especially the game "catch me if you can" which means i chase her around or vice versa. my little daredevil also loves to play roughouse, swinged from right to left, back to front, held up high to touch the ceiling lamp, and being held on her tigh so she hang upside down.. i thought she was gonna frighten and scream, turn out she just laughed and giggle.

oh yeah, that giggle! she has this special giggle that makes you feel like you did something stupid/silly and deserve to be laughing at while in fact you did/said nothing like that. i never thought to record it on video, but will do before the giggle disappear forever.

two nights ago, she cant sleep on her own so i voluntarily wrapped her in her old babywrap and cuddle her and then gently rocked her to sleep. she always loves it, enjoying herself with her eyes closed and 5 minutes later she was sleeping.. and ME smiling + thinking, i am carrying a LIVE BOLSTER, 14kg bolster. 10 kilos heavier from her birthweight, 30 cm taller than her birth height..

oh baby, why are you growing up so fast?? ehem, this is an inconsistent question, actually.. because on the other day, i wished that she grow up fast, taking care of herself so i can be ME again. selfish mind that comes from a tired body!!

baby noelle, now that you're a big girl.
i know you want to be independent, but at the same time you scared of it all.
i know you want my help, but at the same time you dont want it.
your tantrums the other day showed me that.
i know, just in a matter of time, you'll learn how to express your feeling in a better way.
grow up with me, baby..
i am here,
on your constant beck and call..
24-7, 52 weeks, 12 months, 365 days, 100 years
i am yours.

Noelle's Christening Day

noelle and baby rosary
Finally, we christened Noelle, and she is now officially God's Child. Hopefully Our Lord Jesus Christ always keep her in His love and care. Gosh, I feel like a trully parent now.. Before, I used to think that I am just a mother who gave birth to a child, care, nurture, stimulate her 24/7, but now I really do have a bigger responsibility for bring her into this world, this lovely yet scary world.

I am a Christian, married to a Catholic, and promised before God that our offsprings will be brought as Catholic. Well, I would do everything I could, but I leave those Catholic parts to the father :) So, the first step we have to do is christen/baptism the child. Our faith become the biggest motivation, but we also like to celebrate/introduce our baby in the Christian/Catholic comunity. And also, I heard that being a member of a church could also help the child to get a place at the excellent local church school further down the line. :)

A christening calls for our child to believe in Jesus and to repent any sins. However, an increasing number of parents - and clergy themselves - question how a baby can possibly understand and, therefore, commit to this. As an alternative, your little one can be blessed and thanks can be given for her/his safe arrival into the world, without you making any promises on her/his behalf. A christening can then be held when your child is older and more able to understand what baptism involves.
dari ki-ka : sungkun, gw+noelle, romo ari, dawson, abenk, hengky, yanni+cindy.. makasih udah hadir di pembaptisan noelle, terutama elizabeth pang yg mengabadikan momen-momen indah dlm acara tsb :)

We asked about christening details to Romo Ari, he is Indonesian Pastor for Indonesian Congregation at St. Benedict Church, Ardross, Perth. It was simple, not like christening in Indonesia where the parents must attend two meetings with the pastor before the christening day. We just fill in the form with details asked, set up the date to meet the party (pastor, parents and godparents), our beliefs and stuff like that. As simple as that, especially because the ceremony is held separately from regular mass, so it is very convenient for us.

We set the date at 13 December 2009, only a week before Noelle turning ONE!! Noelle has two godfathers, they are Raja Sungkunan Ginting (my hubby's best friend since junior highschool) and Hengky Manoppo (my hubby's friend from previous company who moved here long time before us). And the one and only godmother is Ruth Dameyanni, Hengky's wife.

Traditionally, godparents were chosen for their own strong Christian beliefs, so that they could help guide the growing child in his faith. While this is still preferable in the eyes of the church, in reality, these days godparents are chosen more because they are close friends of the parents or are family members. However, for the sake of the child, it is worth taking time to choose a godparent carefully. I too have this questions in my head. If we are choosing friends, think about what role we would like them to play in Noelle's life. Are they likely to still be friends of us in 10 years time? Are they going to offer us and the child support if needed? Well, I just hope with this bonding, our family and the godparents will be staying great friends forever.

noelle's first cross, baby rosary and christening candle..
Noelle looked so cute in her white cotton dress I purchased from Esprit Baby. I did browse several specialty shops in christening gown, but I dont think Noelle will be comfortable on those sateen/shiny/sintetic material, especially in this summer heat! I compliment her with white walker shoes and white lace headband (gift from Oma Patty when Noelle was born!).

We also prepared a large christening/baptismal candle, silver cross, and baby rosary purchased from Catholic Corner at Canningvale. Actually I would love to have a personalized candle with Noelle's pic and date of birth dan date of baptismal but it took 2-3 weeks to get the personalized candle because they ordered from Sydney. But the regular candle also fine, it has a special poem on the back. It says, "Welcome, precious little child, so fresh from God above, Christened today in Jesus' name. Held in His arms of Love. May angels guide your tiny feet and bring you smiles to wear and may our heavenly Father, always keep you in his care"

holywater

The "hardest" part, uhm no, I mean the serious part was, when Romo Ari asked about our duty and responsibility to guide the child in faith and beliefs development, and our word to take those responsibility. God, we are a sinner so help us to guide our child NOT to be like us, but be a waaay better better person than us..

The christening ceremony only take about 30 minutes. Everything went smoothly following the service sheet handed out to us. Everyone take part, especially Noelle (who performed well eventhough she was skipping her nap time) and Elizabeth Pang (my new friend) took beautiful pictures before, during and after the ceremony.

sacred oil

After ceremony, we asked everybody to have a late lunch (the ceremony start at 01 PM!!), but only Sungkun and Liz who made it, the Manoppo's is having a birthday party invitation so after the ceremony off they go, and I forgot to give them their cupcakes!!

follow jesus cross, take baby steps and watch out for those bumpy roads, my child..
Oh yeah, it was supposed to be a beautiful cupcake, a carrot cupcake with spices like nutmeg and cinnamon topped with maple syrup and cream cheese frosting garnished with little footprints, small cross and several pink cachoux (those edible pearls). But the unbearable heat made the frosting more likely melting, so what we got were gooey drippey frosting.. but still taste good!! :) The lunch at Secret Garden also great, I think everybody was hungry like lions.. Liz also took several photos of Noelle there..

With this note, I would like to say thanks again to God for making everything possible, to my family (Okto and Noelle), to the godparents (Sungkun, Hengky and Yanni), Dawson and Cindy (Manoppo's children who also give blessing on Noelle's christening day), Liz, and Romo Ari. I hope this one special occasion will keep us in beautiful friendship forever, and special for Romo Ari, we will try to do our best to be a Christian parents and will attend your mass on a regular basis.

11 months and 3 days..

Noelle turned 11 months old on November 20th. God bless her with good health and lots of lots laughter.. She's trully a wonderful baby eventhough now she's a bit more like a daredevil instead of a princess :p Actually, I don't know what to write, the words are jumping in my head but I got writer's block and poor time management so I don't have time to write. But still, I manage to stay up late just trying to "pay my debt" to my baby Noelle. Yep, I owe her one note every month..

Uhm, where do I start?? Ok, I'll get the picture, this note will be full of "disappointment" about how my expectation has not fulfilled. I've been trying to stimulate her, but not a biggie progress I think.. Before you try to comfort me, I must say "yeah I heard that everybaby is unique and grow at their own pace.. "..

Noelle has mastered standing on her own and cruising the room while holding onto furniture or my hand, but she seems not interesting to walk on her own even I guard her by placing my hands on her sides. :( She loves to grab onto anything and everything, as well as climb onto my tigh, lowest drawer, her stroller, the box near her room window.. If I'm on the good mood, then I'll support her climb whatever she wants with me guard her, of course. But if I'm tired, all I want to do is grab the remote control and press STILL to freeze her :p

She has a CHICCO baby walker, but she doesn't use it anymore because she has exceeded the maximum weight capacity (13kg). Well, the last month she used it more like a cry game because she refused to be put on her walker and then she kicking her feet when I try to put her in the walker and screams to the top of her lungs. She prefers cruising on her own, but not walking on her own. Period. Thank God she loves to push her Ride On-Walker, she pushes and pushes the Ride On Walker across the room proudly, especially when I cheers and claps my hands for her. On my point of view, it seems like she's fully capable of doing so, but as soon as she realizes that I've let go of her from my hands, she lunges for me or drops on four and start to crawl again. I read that baby prefers doing so because crawling takes them faster than walking. OH MY.. hopefully my baby will grown out of it soon.

Since she has mastered standing on her own, now she takes bath in standing position. Bye bye baby recliner bath.. Oh no, my hubby still use it to bathe her.. Bath time always be her favourite activity, with toys or no toys, she'll manage to amuse herself in the shower. And I keep pouring water in her head to rinse the shampoo just trying to make her get use to it, and everytime I did that, Noelle will try to open her mouth and stuck her tongue as if she wants to taste the water.. Silly yet so adorable..

She's still babbling, still the same Mama and Papa, and other words in her own language which I doubt anyone would understand but only her and God :) She has this expression when she's babbling, so I guess she's trying to tell me something but I am still trying to understand it. Her signing language has not improved yet. But it seems she uses BODY LANGUAGE to communicate. She shake her head to say NO, nod to say YES, claps her hands when she's happy or excited, grab her toy if I tried to take it (I took it as she OBJECT for my action), and she leans to me or looking for me when she soiled her diaper. After that, we go to the toilet, she sits there nicely while I clean her with bidet just like adult :) And when it comes to FOOD, she just eyeing my plate (or the food in my hand) and tried her hardest to grab the food. No wonder she gets so big.. LOL

I'd love to say she eats like a champ, drinks from a glass (she skipped sippy cup phase but now learning to sip from a straw) and sleeps through the night (eventhough she moves alot and positioned herself tons of times during her sleeping). On a perfect night, she'll go to bed around 7:30 PM and then wake up around midnite to be fed and again at 6 AM. On a so so night, she just want to play until she tired and go to bed at 9PM.

I remember a couple of nights ago, she woke up at 2 AM and could not settle and refused to sleep again. And since her father is a sound sleeper, then it's my responsibility to wake up and finally play with her, until 5 AM. There I was, playing with her, read her a couple of books with my head and eye pounding by a hammer.

I don't know whether it's her nature or my poor cooking skills, but I think she hates meat. She eats salmon, tuna, organi chicken, veggies, mashed red beans, mashed fruits, potatoes/pumpkin, mashed rice, cheese, biscuit, even bread+nutella. But she's just not into meat meal. If you only knew, kiddo.. It was organic meat, pricey but only for you.. Please eat your meat ya..

And, 11 months means the end of her scheduled routine because now she just do whatever she wants to do. From 3 times nap during the day, now only 1 nap, and the time is up to her whenever she feels like she wants to sleep. And she loves to watch the telly. I know, babies are not supposed to watch telly so often but I got chores to do and telly is the my savior if she gets bored with her toys.

Soon we will enroll in one-in-a-week class activity just to interact with other babies because she seems interested in other moving things in her size, and animals. Or maybe anything that's not adult? :p

Round thing (balls, rings, cylindrical) are major obsessions for Noelle. Give her 5 different 3D shape objects i.e rectangular, cross, star, triangle, and cylinder and then she'll pick the later. Always. Yesterday we bought her alphabet fridge magnetic in different colour and pattern to form N O E L L E, and when we put it on the fridge wall, she tried to take the letter O.. the same result after we scrambled the alphabets and closed her eyes, she picked letter O again and again. I think I've read about typical personality from our favourite shape, but I forgot what and where I read that, hopefully it was not my imagination.

She still loves to "play" with her mirror image. Touching, kissing and talking to her twin. Seriously, I think that she thinks the image is her friend. Poor baby, I wonder when she would realize that the image is herself??

One of her favorite games is to be chased, so she’ll make a beeline for an open door, and if no one comes after her, she stops in the doorway and calls to you until you go get her, at which point she cracks up and tries to crawl away as fast as she can. The same thing goes in the living room, she hold onto the coffeetable, and tap her toys to the table (to get my attention) and when I see her, she just grin and if I move an inch to the left, she'll move to the right cruising the table as fast as she can. And this chase would go round and round until finally I got her.

Noelle is such a love. She gives hugs by opening her arms and reaching any body parts she could reach i.e : my arms (if I'm on my knee), my neck (if she stands on my lap), or my tigh (if we both stands). She also tries to give kisses by popping her lips, but more often than not she ends up spitting on the object of her affection.

Now I just want to say that I enjoy this age very much, not only because Noelle is learning tons of new things each day, but also because her personality is really starting to emerge, and as she gains more skills and becomes more independent, determined, I can see her as a person and not just a baby. She makes decisions and sets goals for herself, then takes steps to achieve those goals. She thinks about things, remembers things… And since she barely talk, I wish I could hear what goes on in her mind.

Well, in the beginning of this note I said that this note will be about my disappointment but in the end, I found myself smiling and typing words after words. What a relief, I almost think that I am a failure :)

the way you look at me

No one ever saw me like you do
All the things that I could add up to
I never knew just what a smile was worth
But your eyes say everything without a single word

'Cause there's something in the way you look at me
It's as if my heart knows you're the missing piece
You make me believe that there's
nothing in this world I can't be
I'd never know what you see
But there's something in the way you look at me

If I could freeze the moment in my mind
Be the second that you touch your lips to mine
I'd like to stop the clock make time stand still
'Cause baby this is just the way I always wanna feel

'Cause there's something in the way you look at me
It's as if my heart knows you're the missing piece
You make me believe that there's
nothing in this world I can't be
I'd never know what you see
But there's something in the way you look at me

I don't know how or why
I feel different in your eyes
All I know is that it happens every time

'Cause there's something in the way you look at me
It's as if my heart knows you're the missing piece
You make me believe that there's
nothing in this world I can't be
I'd never know what you see
But there's something in the way you look at me

The way you look at me

gigi bayi..

burung kakatua
hinggap di jendela
noelle masih bayi
giginya baru dua..

hehe maksa nih, menggubah lagu burung kakatua nggak bawa2 nenek, tapi bayi.. sebulan terakhir saya mau posting soal gigi noelle yang akhirnya tumbuh di usia 8bulan 2pekan, tapi saya sibuk sama hal2 lain dan akhirnya lupa sama sekali.. but, better be late than never, right?

daredevil

siap2 menurunkan kaki..

posisi menurunkan kaki kanan..

hmm, besok mau ajarin noelle apa lagi yaaa??
